It is scientifically proven that music engagement during preschool age has multiple benefits in children’s development: they get familiarity with music, learn the first simple, but basic, musical concepts, contributing thus to their mental health and the development of cognitive and language skills. Music has a soothing and relaxing effect on children, while it contributes to their emotional development and promotes their socialization.
In the School the music pre-education section is oriented towards traditional music. The course includes learning of traditional songs and church hymns as well as educational games aimed at assimilating the musical concepts of time, pitch, rhythmic education, dynamics, timbre and structure of a musical composition. In addition, the main traditional musical instruments are presented, while through folk tales and stories that come from various regions of Greece, children learn the customs, traditions of our country and the songs associated with them.
