Poulios Anastasios

Anastasios Poulios was born in Katerini in 1988. He is a graduate of the Department of Folk and Traditional Music of the TEI of Epirus, specializing in the kanun, and his teacher is Apostolos Tsardakas. He holds a master’s degree in “Musical Arts: Interpretation & Performance in Kanonaki” from the Department of Music Science & Art of the University of Macedonia. At the same time, he studied church music, European music theories, and for a certain time he studied at Istanbul Technical University.

Since 2009 he has been active professionally in Greece and abroad with artists such as: Haig Yazdjian, Martha Mavroidi, Yasemi Quartet, Sokratis Sinopoulos, New York Gypsy All Stars, Livas Trio, Panagiotis Andreou, Vangelis Karipis, Katerina Papadopoulou, Nedyalko Nedyalkov, Amine Bouhafa , Nikos and Yasemi Saragouda, George Psaltis, Periklis Papapetropoulos, Solon Lekkas, Haris Lambrakis, and others.

In 2013 he started teaching in music schools in Athens and esleshere, while in 2017-2018 he taught kanun at the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia. Since 2017, he has been collaborating with the “Chanting School” teaching kanun and conducting one of the School’s four orchestras with a repertoire oriented to the urban folk music of Istanbul and other points of reference in the wider region. In the years 2019-2022 he was the Artistic Director of the Traditional Music Department of the Chanting School. In addition, he curates and coordinates the “Music Gatherings” of the Singing School.
